The 610 Series.

#641 In 1952, Fred Casotti was named the University of Colorado's first full-time Sports Information Director. He never left CU, subsequently holding several top-level positions within the Athletic Department. As the 21st Century dawned, Casotti remained much on the scene as a Buffs' historian.

In addition to establishing himself as one of the nation's best SID's, Casotti authored three acclaimed books on Colorado football, wrote many humorous limericks and served as a mentor to dozens of students who worked for him as assistants.

To appropriately honor one of the most popular campus figures ever, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication commissioned Boulder artist John Haertling to create the accompanying plaque.

#611 After 40 years as a TV journalist, Bob Palmer retired from KCNC-TV Channel 4 in 1997. KCNC-TV hired John Haertling to create a wall art piece for the University of Colorado School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The wording mentions the Bob Palmer Endowed Scholarship, which had its kick-off campaign in 1997. An identical wall piece was made for the KCNC-TV office in Denver, and a smaller version was given to Bob at the gathering that followed his last broadcast. This piece ties in images of the past with the present. It includes relics of the trade and a gesture of the Rocky Mountains. The 24 by 28 inch multi-media plaque incorporates 10 different materials.

#612 This bronze torch with lettering cut into limestone and filled black was created for the University of Colorado Education Department.
